Hi there!

I’m Sandi Abbott and I’m a marketer and small business owner. My marketing firm, Xpresso Marketing, helps small businesses and entrepreneurs grow by using email marketing and other Web 2.0 strategies such as social networking, online surveys, SEO, e-publicity, blogs and so on.

My Background

Although I hope it doesn’t show, I’ve been in marketing for more than twenty years. Working for both agencies and large corporations, I have written, designed, created and plotted for companies in travel and tourism, hospitality, banking and retail — in the US, Latin America and Caribbean markets.

I took a few years off to start a family and when I returned, marketing had really changed. And I didn’t like it. I wanted to continue to use the tools I was familiar with. So I turned my nose up at social media and offered services in what I knew best: direct mail, printed collateral and advertising. (The only exception was email marketing because I had already been using it and knew what a terrific strategy it was.)

How I Went From Digital Wallflower to Social Butterfly

Sticking my head in the sand worked for a while. But I could not ignore the cost-effective online marketing tools that seemed to be multiplying like bunnies.

So I grudgingly joined the “conversation.” I opened a Facebook account and then got on LinkedIn and Twitter. And I started reading blogs and bookmarking the things I liked.

Pretty soon I started tweeting  and updating and learning and expanding my marketing strategies to include these latest tools.

I had become a convert. Because I saw how successful businesses used blogging and social networking to communicate with their customers and prospects. I’m still learning and experimenting and growing.
